Tongue Tied Ltd is an established company founded in 1989 by John and Cindy Shouler.
Based in Hove, East Sussex, the company began work with American Express. The early years were spent establishing a base of reliable translators/interpreters, most of whom belong to the Institute of Translators and Interpreters.
Tongue Tied Ltd now have over 4000 such individuals on their books who translate and interpret to and from most languages in the world and service some 300 clients on a regular basis, including many large ‘Blue Chip’ Organisations.
Tongue Tied Ltd has increased its client base and doubled it’s turnover for the first six years of operation. That trend over the last year has slowed down to an increase of 20%, but it is currently on target to increase this year by a factor of 50-70%.
In this business, it is crucial to have a large database of good quality translators/interpreters. It is important to be able to match an individual translation job to the skills of a particular translator. For example a different translator will be required to do a legal translation as compared with an engineering translation, even though the languages will be the same.
The Tongue Tied Franchise is a selling business. As companies become more international there will be greater demand for translation and interpreting services. Many Translation and Interpreting Companies only provide a limited number of languages or are not able to do technical translations or provide technical interpreters. It has been found that many companies prefer to deal with a local translation company, even though the client will rarely, if ever actually meet the franchise personnel. With this in mind, Tongue Tied is setting up a nation-wide network of franchised translation and interpreting companies.
The Franchisee will only be responsible for selling the service and will not need any foreign language skills. It is not necessary to have a serviced office, or to incur anything but the most basic overheads.
